“Do not cast me off in the time of old age…” — Psalm 71:9

Our Mission

To bring the love of Christ to elderly residents in local nursing homes and to the homebound through friendship, prayer, and the sacraments. We build meaningful relationships rooted in compassion, dignity, and the assurance that no one in our parish family is forgotten.

Why This Ministry Matters

Many elderly residents long for companionship, spiritual support, and a reminder that they remain cherished members of the Body of Christ. Our volunteers offer exactly that—a listening ear, a caring presence, and access to the sacraments.

Right now, our ministry is growing rapidly:

  • 19 parish volunteers visit 31 residents across three nursing homes (Willows, Charter, and Coachman)
  • 16 additional residents are waiting for a volunteer visitor (we urgently need more volunteers!)
  • 80+ residents participate regularly in Communion, Rosary, and/or Confession
  • 13 homebound parishioners receive parish mailings and spiritual support

Your presence can make a profound difference in someone’s life.

What Volunteers Do

You can serve in a variety of ways, depending on your gifts and comfort level:

  • Visit residents one‑on‑one
  • Pray the Rosary with small groups
  • Bring Holy Communion (training provided)
  • Offer companionship through conversation, reading, or shared interests
  • Assist clergy during monthly Confession visits
  • Help coordinate cards, mailings, and seasonal outreach

Our dedicated team includes parishioners and clergy who serve faithfully each week:

  • Bruce Marien & Sister Carolyn – Weekly Communion at Charter
  • Montse Lopez‑Villa – Communion & Rosary twice monthly at Coachman
  • Kathy Ortoleva – Communion twice monthly at Willows
  • David Cadelina – Rotating Rosary & Communion at all three homes; volunteer coordinator
  • Fr. Kelechi – Monthly Confession at Coachman
  • Fr. Joe Elko (retired) – Weekly Confession at Charter

We also collaborate with parish groups such as Little Lambs and the Choir to bring joy and community to residents.

Become a Volunteer

You don’t need special training—just a compassionate heart and a willingness to spend time with someone who would love your company. We provide guidance, support, and pairing with residents whose interests match yours.

We especially need new volunteers now so we can serve the 16 residents currently waiting for visits.
