Be Sealed with the Gifts of the Holy Spirit
Thank you for your interest in the Our Lady of the Assumption Confirmation Program. In 2025, the Archdiocese of Hartford changed the age of Confirmation to 8th grade. This decision, made with prayerful discernment, reflects a desire to provide the young people of our parishes with spiritual armor as they enter their high school years. A two‑year rollout plan was created to support a smooth and thoughtful transition.
At Our Lady of the Assumption, we hope to use this time to engage our Confirmation candidates more deeply in parish life and to encourage them to embrace their role as active members of our community as they prepare to receive the final sacrament of initiation.
Confirmation candidates are expected to attend Mass faithfully during their time of preparation to receive the Sacrament. Classes are Sunday mornings following 9:30 Mass. The calendar of dates is available here.
We also ask candidates to sign a Confirmation commitment pledge along with their parents which can be found here along with other information needed to register candidates for Confirmation.
Candidates are asked to complete 15 service hours at our parish as well. Service opportunities can be found here. The Confirmation packet can be found here to download and print.
